1. Find     

  익숙한 뜻: 찾다, 발견하다.   

   

자주 쓰이는 뜻: 여기다, 생각하다. I think she’s attractive. (내 생각엔 그녀가 매력적이라고 생각돼)

I find her attractive. (그녀를 만나보고, 대화를 나눠보니깐 그녀가 매력적이라고 느껴져/ 경험을 바탕으로)

I find you very attractive. (난 네가 정말 매력적으로 생각해/영화 ‘Crazy Stupid Love’)

 

I find it doable. (난 그게 할 만 하다고 생각해) 한번 해보니깐 그렇게 느껴지는것

I find it challenging > hard, difficult       

hard,difficult => 뭔가가 어렵다고 complain 하는 느낌

Challenging => 어렵지만 도전해볼만한, 해볼만한 뉘앙스가 담겨져 있는 느낌/긍정적인 느낌

It’s challenging, but doable. (힘들긴 하지만 그래도 해 볼만 해./ 미드 ‘Breaking Bad’)

 

Well. you might find it difficult. (넌 그게 어렵다고 생각할지도 몰라./ 미드 ‘The X-file’)

And I find it hard to believe. (난 그게 믿기 힘들다고 생각해/ 미드 ‘Suits’

2. at all

(조금이라도) 의문문,조건문 에서 사용

      

not at all (전혀) 의문문에서 at all Did you eat at all? (뭐 좀 먹었어?)

A: Did you study at all? (공부 좀 했어?/)

B: Not at all. (전혀) Did you guys sleep at all? (너희들 잠 좀 잤어? / 미드 ‘Pretty Little Liars’)

 

조건문에서 at all (조금 이라도) 강조! 정말 조금이라도 필요한게 있으면 도와주겠다는 뉘앙스

If you need anything at all, please let me know. (조금이라도 뭐든 필요하신 게 있으시면 말씀해 주세요)

If you need anything at all, please just give us a ring. (조금이라도 필요하신 게 있으시면 전화주세요./ 만화’Anomalisa’)

 

And if you need anything else at all, just let Charles know.

(또 필요한 게 조금이라도 있다면 Charles 에게 말해줘 / 미드 ’The Office’)

 

3. be in the middle of

(바쁘다는 뉘앙스) 한창 ~ 중이야

 

in the middle of 1)가운데에 2)~중에

in the middle of the room (방 한가운데에)

in the middle of the night (한 밤 중에) 

He called me in the middle of the night. (그가 한밤중에 나에게 전화했어)

I woke up in the middle of the night. (한 밤 중에 일어났어)

I’m in the middle of + 명사/동사ing (나 한창 ~ 중이라 바빠) 바쁘다는 뉘앙스가 포함되어있다.

I’m in the middle of the meeting. (한창 회의 중이라 바쁘다는 뉘앙스)

I’m in the middle of making dinner. (한창 저녁 만드느라 바쁘다는 뉘앙스)

I’m in the middle of something. (나 지금 뭐 좀 하느라 바빠)
