생일도 아닌 그냥 오늘

같은 어느 날 동생은

별 이유 없이 고급 시계를

나에게 선물 하였습니다

 

일 년이 지나 시계바늘이 멈추어

“배터리 플러스” 가게에 갔습니다

 

“돈을 좀 더 지불하면 평생 무료 배터리 입니다.”

점원의 솔깃한 말에

단 2초의 망설임 후 돈을 더 주고 그 배터리를 구입했습니다

 

또 다른 일 년이 지나고 시계가 멈추어 그 가게에 갔습니다

공짜로 배터리를 갈고 그냥 나오기 미안해서 당장은 필요 없는

화재 경보기 배터리 한 개을 구입했습니다

좀 비싸더군요

 

또 그 다음 해에도 그냥 나오기 미안해

뭐 살거 없나 둘러 보다 마침 내 승용차 와이퍼가 좀 오래 되어

새걸로 구입해서 갈아 버렸습니다

좀 비싸더군요

 

올해도 머지않아 그 가게에 가겠네요

이번에도 뭔가 구입할거 같습니다

평생 이 시계를 찬다면

평생 그 가게의 단골 고객이 될거 같습니다

 

공짜인듯 공짜가 아닌 평생 무료 배터리

동생이 별 이유 없이 사준 이 고급시계

그 이후 동생에게 인심 많이 썼습니다

 

이 시계와 이 배터리는

나의 약한 마음을 조작합니다

 

그래도 동생이 선물한 이 시계

고맙게 평생 차렵니다

Not my birthday, one day

just like today my younger brother

without any special reason gave me

a premium watch as a gift

 

After about a year the watch stopped so

I went to “Battery Plus Store”

I bought a fire alarm battery

It was a little expensive

 

Again the next year I felt sorry with the free battery so

I looked around to find what to buy and just in time, the wiper of my car was old so

I bought a new one and changed

It was a little expensive

 

This year also sooner or later I will go to the store

At this time I am likely to buy something

For my lifetime if I wear this watch,

For my lifetime I am likely to be a regular customer

 

It’s like free but actually not free lifetime battery

The premium watch given me by my younger brother

Since then I have owed to him a lot

 

This watch and battery are

Manipulating my weak mind

 

Anyhow I will wear this watch he gave to me

Gratefully to the end of my life
